Hey! Remember yesterday when we said we had big plans for our rainy day? Well guess what? It barely even drizzled. So naturally, we changed all our plans first thing this morning so we could enjoy a day in the sunshine.
One very important plan that did not change, however, was the opening of Sully and JoJo’s Dirty Food Truck for made-to-order breakfast.
I’ll now introduce you to our four dirty food truck employees. First up is Bad Bertha, known for burning breakfast meats and serving spoiled orange juice.
Next up is Cranky Candy. Don’t dare send your food back if she gets it wrong.
Dirty Lucy licks the serving spoon and walks around the kitchen barefoot.
Last and certainly least, we’ve got Dirty Jo, who hasn’t washed the coffee machine in thirty years.
We’re only kidding…our kitchen crew slaved away to make this special treat possible for us and we enjoyed every last bite!
Shirley is pictured with her namesake breakfast “The Shirley.”
After breakfast we loaded up for the beach. We wish we had more pictures, but it was scorching hot outside and 100% humidity so we spent most of the time in the water cooling off.
Jack and Ronnie are our beach lifeguards for every beach trip. Thank you for keeping an eye on our boisterous group in the water! These trips wouldn’t be possible without them.
Sarah was hesitant about getting in the water, but eventually got most of the way in thanks to Avery!
Matt C. is always first to the water, wondering what’s taking everyone else so long!
Bailey and Des made sure to stay extra hydrated in the heat today.
We apologize in advance if we send anyone home tomorrow with a sunburn. We applied sunscreen before leaving for the beach and multiple times at the beach but it was SUCH a sunny day and we may have missed a few spots. Forgive us!!!
OH! It was Gabrielle’s 20th birthday today!!!! She is SO worth celebrating!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY Gabrielle!!!
This afternoon we played our very own escape room, “Escape the Jabberwock.” JoJo, Kelsey, Brynn, and Jordan were the masterminds behind the operation and planned for hours, late into the night to make this happen for us!
We split into three teams:
- The Witches: Skylar, Matt L., Sarah, Craig, Stella, Harry, Alex, Kara, Kellen, and Avery
- The Wacky Wockies: Matt C., Andres, Peter, Morgan, Sussie, Natalie, Daniel, and Jamie
- The Desiree’s: Desiree (of course), Shirley, Justin, Jay, Gabby, Bailey, Huck, and Melissa
We chased clues all over camp to escape the Jabberwock. We can’t give too many details in case we play again. We don’t want to give any future players an unfair advantage!
Good news! All of the teams escaped the Jabberwock safely. The Witches and the Wacky Wokies tied for the win, with both teams coming in at around 45 minutes.
After dinner, we had Studio Night!!! We went live on Instagram for the whole event (find us at @campjabberwocky). We saved the live recording so anyone can hop over to instagram to watch it (which we HIGHLY encourage!).
Justin, Peter, and Andres channeled their inner Jimmy Buffets and performed a rendition of “Margaritaville.”
Shirley and Desiree sang and danced to Alicia Keys’ “No One.”
Matt L. and Jordan turned Alex into a witch!!!
Jay sang and danced to “Most Girls” by Hailee Steinfeld and had Alex, Daniel, and Jamie as back up dancers.
Craig and Stella had a lovely gossip session, but whenever some people came through and interrupted, Craig used his sharpshooting skills to put them in their place! There were some casualties!!!
Morgan got a whole cast and crew together to create a detailed and SCARY rendition of “The Conjuring”! It had our audience on the edge of their seats!!
To top off our evening, we had Camp Jabberwocky’s one and only Danny Zuko and his gang of greasers serenade us with “You’re the One That I Want”. We danced and laughed off our scaries, and it was a perfect way to end our very first Studio Night.
After our evening festivities ended, we set back to our cabins to do some packing and to get ready for bed. The unexpected sunny day was an absolute treat and made us feel so incredibly happy to end our first week like this.
