Well friends, today we split up and went a couple different directions, but then we all came together to end the day at the Community Sing at the Oak Bluffs Campground.
A small group left right after breakfast to go ride some biplanes with Classic Aviation. They drove down to Katama, put on some fancy helmets, and then it was up, up, and away!
Everyone that went got a chance to pose for a nifty picture, AND they got to have a private tour of the vineyard from the air. The planes flew over South Beach, State Beach, Edgartown, Meg Ryan’s house, and a million other cool things!
As we waited for our turns, we enjoyed each other’s company. Also, the company of cute dogs that passed by.
The pilots even let us do special barrel rolls… but only if we showed them dazzling smiles first!
All in all, it was a pretty darn good field trip!
For those of you keeping score at home, everyone that stayed at camp for the morning still had plenty of thrills in store.
They got to enjoy yet another fantastic music class with our FABULOUS new music teachers!! J. Why and Hillary continue to grace us with their musical splendor.
There was also a full schedule of classes this morning that kept everyone busy until it was time for….
The water was perfect,
The smiles were bright,
And the mood was cheery!
There were hugs abounding,
and relaxation aplenty.
Although no one relaxed too much, because Nathan was up to his usual tricks…
Somehow, we managed to push our fear to the side and continue enjoying the beautiful day at the beach.
We carried that joy all the way to the Tabernacle in Oak Bluffs tonight as we all raised our voices at the Community Sing.
The Community Sing is an old tradition that has been going on for 104 years… but we found ways to keep it fresh and exciting
For some, that included a short snack detour or shopping trip to augment the night.
However, once we finished with the frivolous distractions in town, we were all business as we sang our hearts out.
Even as our voices grew hoarse, we continued to enjoy each others’ company.
Once the night concluded, we stumbled back to camp and hit the hay. We need to rest up our voices and bodies for another action-packed day tomorrow!
Love,
Camp
